| This month edX is celebrating its 5th birthday! Through our mission to improve lives by increasing access to high-quality education around the world, we have grown the edX global community to more than 11 million from every country in the world. I am inspired by each and every edX learner I meet and hear about and I’m honored to learn with and from all of you, every day.
I want to share the story of one of edX’s earliest learners, Amol. Living in India, without easy access to high-quality education, Amol took a leap and enrolled in an MIT course on edX. Dedicated to improving his life, Amol worked through multiple edX courses while attending school in India. Today, five years later, Amol is about to graduate from MIT and start a job at Facebook.
